You have questions. We have answers! They might even be useful!

    • email is best! or the contact form on this site

  • Why not werewolves?
    • That’s complicated.
    • They might be ok, but only if superb wolves
  • How does Pubshare work, anyway?
    • Pubshare is the company we partner with to handle royalty payments and tax paperwork.
    • If you have published with us in an anthology, you can see every sale and page read! Check this out.
  • How do I set up my Amazon Author page?
  • You say you want stories for anthologies that are between 5-8,000 words long. What if my story is longer or shorter than that?
    • In the words of LawDog: “Be Entertaining, All Else is Negotiable.”
    • From an editor’s point of view, while we’ll sometimes accept a story out of bounds on length, it has to be really good for us to do this. Make sure it’s all it can be – which might mean building it out a little, or cutting back on excess to make it fit.
  • The open call for middle-grade chapter books says you are looking for boy’s action & adventure. My story has a girl main character, is this ok?
    • Sorry, at this time we are looking for a boy or boys as the central characters. Girls tagging along is fine, as secondary characters, but never as a ‘love interest’ as there should be no romance sub-plots in these books at all. We will likely be more open to girls later, in a couple of years, but for now we’re focused on creating great reads for boys and girls who prefer boy’s books.
  • Will you ever eschew AI? There are people in the world who don’t like it.
    • We’re very open about our Design team’s use of AI tools for our graphics. We’re going to continue to use the tools as they evolve. We know some don’t like the use of AI tools, so we’re open and clear that we do. We are free to use them, as you are free to choose to not patronize our business.
    • FREEDOM!! /braveheart voice/
  • Why Anthologies? Why not something more rational and less painful?
    • First of all, because they said it couldn’t be done. We’ve proved them wrong, over and over. This makes us happy. We shall continue doing it, giving the market the short fiction they have been craving.
    • In the words of the inimitable LawDog, owner of Raconteur Press, how the very first anthology, Ghosts of Malta, came into being.
  • What about Novels?
    • Raconteur Press will be debuting novels in 2025! We are very excited about this, and hope our readers are ready for some phenomenal longer reads.
    • We are not currently open for novel submissions. We assure you, we will let you know in many places when we are.
  • What about audiobooks?
    • We are not – YET – making audiobooks of the various works we publish. We hope to be able to do this in the future, but the logistics and finances are beyond complicated, and we are passionate about serving our author’s needs, which means paying them.
